Inspiring Mindset Shifts with Industry Leaders
On Friday, May 9, we had the pleasure of leading a high-impact growth mindset training session at AmCham Shanghai, with enthusiastic participation from teams at ExxonMobil, Alcon, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, and IFF.
The goal? To help middle managers and emerging leaders recognize and shift mindset patterns—both in themselves and across their teams.

A Tailored Approach: Learning That Starts Before the Session
What set this session apart was our personalized preparation. Before the workshop, we conducted one-on-one calls with each participant to explore:
Their current leadership challenges
Team dynamics they’re navigating
Specific goals for applying growth mindset principles
This helped us customize the content and ensure that our session was deeply relevant, practical, and immediately applicable.

From Fixed to Growth: Making Mindsets Visible
Together, we explored how to recognize fixed and growth mindset patterns in ourselves and others. The training combined clear frameworks with real-world application, helping participants understand:
What a fixed mindset looks like in daily team dynamics
How to reframe setbacks as opportunities for learning
How to coach others with a growth-oriented lens
The goal wasn’t just awareness—it was activation. We practiced language shifts, explored the GROW coaching model, and shared real experiences from the workplace to make the content practical and actionable.
Learning by Doing: Coaching & Collaboration in Action
One of the most energizing elements was the peer coaching exchange. In small groups, participants brought in real-life leadership challenges and used the GROW model to support one another through focused listening and powerful questioning.
This live coaching practice provided immediate feedback, allowing each participant to reflect, stretch, and grow in real time.

Participant Takeaways
Here’s what some attendees shared after the session:
“I have profoundly recognized my limiting beliefs and encountered many of my discomfort zones through on-site interactions.”
“Growth model, growth mindset makes greater sense of free will.”
“GROW model — no perfect questions, and no advice.”
“Grow method is very helpful.”
These reflections highlight the value of mindset work when paired with the right tools and environment for experimentation and reflection.
Looking Ahead
We’re currently compiling full feedback from the session, which has been overwhelmingly positive. We’re excited to see how these insights ripple through participants’ teams and companies in the weeks ahead.
Stay tuned for more updates—and thank you again to everyone who joined us at AmCham for a powerful morning of learning and growth!
