How to Take the CliftonStrengths Assessment

Are you ready to discover your unique talents and unleash your full potential?

Relaxing and breathing before training

Taking the CliftonStrengths assessment is the first step in understanding what makes you, you

Here’s a simple guide to help you navigate the process:

1. Get Prepared

Before diving in, find a quiet spot where you can focus. You cannot pause the test so ensure you have about 45 minutes to dedicate to the assessment. You’ll want to be relaxed and in a good mindset to reflect on your strengths.

2. Create an Account

When you bought your Assessment with us, you receive an email from Gallup taking you to the Assessment center. From there, you create your Gallup account. (Make sure you remember the password for later access to your results and reports.)

3. Take the Assessment

Once you’re logged in, you’ll encounter a series of questions.

The CliftonStrengths assessment consists of 177 paired statements, and you’ll need to choose which one resonates with you more.

My advice? Trust your instincts!

Answer quickly and honestly—there are no right or wrong answers.

Here is an example of the type of questions you could encounter during your CliftonStrengths Assessment:

4. Review Your Results

After completing the assessment, you’ll receive a detailed report of your top 5 strengths (or the full 34 if you opt for the complete profile).

Take some time to read through your results. For more homework to do with your reports, check our article “What is the CliftonStrengths” under the paragraph “You’ve completed the CliftonStrengths, now what?”.

5. Reflect on Your Strengths

Think about how your strengths show up in your daily life. Ask yourself:

  • How do these strengths help me in my work or personal life?
  • Can I recall specific examples of when I’ve used these strengths?

6. Share and Discuss

Talk about your results with a friend, coworker, or coach.

Sharing your insights can lead to a deeper understanding of how your strengths impact your interactions and contributions.

7. Take Action

Now that you know your strengths, it’s time to put them into practice!

Identify opportunities where you can leverage your unique talents—whether it’s in team projects, leadership roles, or personal endeavors. You can check the work we do with our coaching counterparts and in our teams’ training in our article “Unleashing the Power of CliftonStrengths”
